For my second blog I chose to stick with the Dollhouse series so I watched the second episode in the series, which was called “The Target”. This episode was extremely intense and I found it a lot more entertaining than the first one. Just like the last episode the show jumped around a lot and I was kind of confused as to what exactly was going on at some points. The main doll in the show, Echo, was hired to go on a camping trip with a rich man for the perfect weekend getaway. At first they were really cute and in love but then all of the sudden he lost his mind and started trying to shoot her with a bow and arrow. The show also showed more about the treatment that the dolls receive and it was really strange. I have changed my opinion about whether or not what is being done to the dolls is ethical. I think that it is extremely unethical because now the treatments are not completely erasing Echo’s memory and she’s having flashbacks about her life before she became a doll. Also, it’s not guaranteed that when the dolls go on their missions that they will survive. They say in this episode that what they are doing is science and that it is a beautiful thing. But, I think that what they are doing is awful and there is no way in the world that anything like this could ever happen in real life. Even though this show stresses me out, I still find it kind of interesting.

Blog 2: Dollhouse
I chose to watch the first episode in the Dollhouse series because to me this show sounded the least strange on the list. Science fiction and fantasy is definitely not my cup of tea, and I’ve never watched this kind of show before. At many times throughout the episode I found myself confused about what exactly was going on because it was so back and forth. Although the show was extremely unrealistic I found it a little bit entertaining. The part that I want to focus on is the “treatments” that the programmer gives to all of the dolls. The dolls are given parts of personalities from multiple people in order for them to perform different tasks for rich people that are willing to pay a bunch of money. Then, after the doll performs the task they go back into the room and their memory and personality gets completely erased. This whole operation that they have going on seems very unethical, and one of the handlers agrees. But, the main people that are running the dollhouse think that they are doing nothing wrong. They believe that what they are doing is a win-win situation for everyone because the rich people that hire the dolls get what they want, and the poor people only have to give up five years of their life and then they get paid for it. I think that it’s wrong what they’re doing but the dolls aren’t really losing anything. They’re getting paid, staying in shape, and they’re not going to remember anything bad that they had to do during their time in the dollhouse. I’m anxious to see what happens in the next episodes.

Blog 1: Introduce Yourself.
My name is Kristen Taylor and I am from Worthington, Ohio. I’m a freshman at The Ohio State University and my major is Pre-Athletic Training. I hope to one day go to graduate school to become a Physical Therapist. I’m not a very complicated person at all, and most days you can find me just hanging out with my friends doing absolutely nothing. I have one older brother named Scott and him and I are really close, he’s definitely one of my best friends. My family and friends mean the world to me; they are hilarious and I couldn’t imagine what my life would even be like without them. In my spare time I like going out, hanging out with friends, having fun, and being outside (only if it’s warm). I’m obsessed with Nutella, Grey’s Anatomy, gummy bears, dark chocolate reese cups, and Bradley Cooper. I hate scary movies with a passion; always have, always will. My favorite foods are pizza and pasta and I could probably eat them every single day for the rest of my life. I love all types of music but if I had to pick a favorite genre it would definitely be Country. I sing and dance all the time even though I’m probably only embarrassing myself. I’ve worked at Target for almost three years now and I absolutely hate it, but I love the discount and the people I work with. I actually like vegetables. Chocolate is my biggest weakness, especially chocolate covered strawberries.
