I live in the international dorm here at Ohio State so I see different cultures on a daily basis. Quite a few of the girls on my floor are from China and the way that they do some things is very different from what I am accustomed to and what I was taught when I was younger. A couple of the girls hand wash their clothing in bowls with bars of soap in our bathroom and it’s really interesting. I’ve talked to one of the girls about this and she said that this is what she was taught when she was younger and has been doing her entire life and even though there are washing machines and dryers in our building she would rather do it this way. A few of the girls that live on my floor at the beginning of the year didn’t even understand how to use a washing machine or a dryer. It’s strange how we’ve all been raised around these things so we think it’s weird when someone has a different way of doing things. I think that living in Morrison Tower this year has opened my eyes to how different cultures interact and live and I believe that it’s a really great experience for me. There are people here from all over the world and I feel lucky to be able to communicate with them and learn about their cultures and how they lived back home.
Kinda weird but i alway live in Morrison Tower; i always see asians outside smoking cigarettes. They are like chimneys.
