Blog 61: War

Something that is happening in the world that concerns me is definitely the war on terrorism.  I think that this hits especially close to home because my family has a lot of history in the military and my cousin is being deployed to Afghanistan in the beginning of June.  I wish that there was another way that we could work out our differences without having to put the lives of our people at risk.  I personally am very anti-war and I feel like this has been going on for too long.  It really worries me that my cousin will be over there for almost a year and my other cousin is enlisting in the army when he graduates next year.  I think a lot of people look at this problem and don’t care because they don’t have a personal connection.  But, when you know people that are over there in danger and your family is over there it becomes a lot more real.  I don’t understand how war even solves any problems.  I feel like it just creates more problems.  Invading a country is just going to piss them off even more, killing their people isn’t going to make them happy.  I just feel like it’s counterproductive but that’s my own opinion.  I know this is a very controversial topic but I just wish that the war could be over and my family members didn’t have to be deployed because I know how dangerous it is over there.
