Blog 51: Athletic Training

I’m not sure on whether or not I am going to get into my major or not, right now I am technically listed as Pre-Athletic Training.  I have my interview tomorrow afternoon with the admissions panel so hopefully that goes well for me and I receive good news some time on Friday.  In the Athletic Training major we work with the athletes on preventing and rehabilitating sports related injuries.  I have always been interested in pursuing a career in the field of medicine and Athletic Training allows me to combine that dream with Athletics, which is another field that I am passionate about.  This major is one of the most competitive at Ohio State and only about 25 students are accepted into the program each year.  This really stresses me out.  I have been having anxiety and panic attacks for the last couple of weeks since I was informed that I was given an interview.  I hope that I do well in this interview because my entire future is on the line.  I will be mad if I don’t because then I took hard chemistry classes and physiology for no reason when I could have gotten away with taking the easier ones.  I have been practicing what I am going to say but apparently they ask a question like, “if we were to look at your facebook right now, what would we learn about you?”  That’s tough and I don’t know how to respond to that so if anyone has any advice, I’m more than willing to take it!

  1. Just smile, don't fidget. Be confident, but not bossy. Sit up stright, don't chew gum. They'll expect you to be a little nervous. Oh, and don't go in drunk or high, they frown on that for some reason. You'll do fine.
